Chief Editor at The Owl Branch Book Productions
When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
As I child, I always enjoyed storytelling and reading. Eventually, writing just became a pastime that I never believed would turn into a career.
How long does it take you to write a book?
Longer than most: I also have other responsibilities, like editing, so my books take 3-6 months to produce. However, I do have a blog where I share monthly (sometimes weekly) stories: http://krihstinzink.wixsite.com/kzwrites
What is your work schedule like when you're writing?
My writing schedule is currently unpredictable, since I write when time permits.
What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
My interesting writing quirk would be that I’m an old-school writer: I long-hand write every story before starting a Word doc.
How do your books get published?
At the moment, I’m exclusively on Amazon.
Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
My ideas are inspired by my immediate environment: either real life or fictional influences.
When did you write your first book and how old were you?
I completed my first novel, Scarlet’s Torment, at age 31 (total production time: 11/12-9/15).
What do you like to do when you're not writing?
What does your family think of your writing?
They’re supportive in their own way.
What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
Honestly, the expense to produce a readable book still surprises me.
How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
I’ve self-published four books: Scarlet’s Torment, Scarlet Unleashed, 3 Grams, and Kate. However, I’ve started numerous projects that I plan to publish soon. Of the four, 3 Grams is my favorite story.
Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer? If so, what are they?
My suggestion to any novice writer would be to stay consistent by writing every day. Practice makes perfect. Furthermore, a massive misconception too many writers make is that they miss the opportunity to develop their personal writing style. Instead, they see a style that works and copy it. Although being unique can me frightening, it’s best to foster an individual style and to study the mechanics of an entertaining story before jumping into any project.
Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?
Yes. Most readers write amazing Amazon reviews, which totally make my day.
Do you like to create books for adults?
Definitely. As a stay-at-home parent with a grad degree, my target audience is SAHPs who want something more than mainstream. My books induce a gamut of emotions, and that’s my aim with every story: to provide an entertaining experience.
What do you think makes a good story?
A good story has three primary elements: an attention-grabbing beginning, an entertaining middle, and a book-hangover ending.
As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
Honestly, it depended on the day of the week. I was brought up to believe that I could be anything I wanted to be, and now I get to through my stories.
Any books in the works?
Yes. I’m currently writing the conclusion to The Scarlet Rodrick series, Scarlet Forever; and I also have a few secret projects in the works.
What are your plans for the future?
To continue creating charismatic stories while paying it forward with my tutor-based editing.

Cruising into her thirties, and the bud-smoking outcast of her family, Ophelia Santos concerned herself more with what kept her happy and not what others would say. Her family’s distaste of her lifestyle—as they called it—created a drift that O could care less about repairing. All that mattered were her bubble-berry bud and fun times with Lena Avila, Ophelia’s live-in girl toy.
Years of faulty choices have concluded in an untraditional life for the twenty-nine-year-old Texan. Bud smoking and deejaying were O’s day-in-and-day-out, until the night a stranger changed everything for herself and Lena.
Surviving being sold like a bag of bud, became a struggle that O and Lena would have to endure—no matter the number of forced dates.
